Using positive affirmations daily can change your entire life!
I know this because I am a walking example of how powerful daily positive affirmations can be! If you don’t already know, affirmations are positive statements that you say about yourself in repetition. Over time these statements can help you overcome self-sabotaging behaviors and negative thinking.
And here’s the thing about negative thinking, it happens more often than not. The people over at faithhopeandpsychology.com say that the human mind thinks between 12,000-60,000 thoughts per day with 80% of those thoughts being negative ones!
Looking at these statistics it makes total sense why there are many unhappy people in this world. Mindset is everything and a negative one can you leave you stressed, sad, or even angry! This is why I believe that knowing how to use positive affirmations is a valuable tool that everyone should have.

What makes the mind so negative

The mind is so fascinating and with it, we can create amazing realities for ourselves. On the flip side, the mind can also be a very scary and stressful place.
But why is it that sometimes the mind can be a total drag? Everyone’s case is different but for a lot of people, it is because of the limiting beliefs and life experiences that get picked up along the way.
The sad stories and lies that we tell ourselves, our ego, and even things that have nothing to do with us personally, can affect our mindset and send us down the negative thinking rabbit hole.

It seems like the odds may be against us and that we are set up to fail but we actually have the power to heal our thought process and change the way we think. That’s right! You don’t have to stay stuck in your negative thinking and it is possible to rewire your brain if you really want to.
How to rewire your brain
Using positive affirmations on repeat can have an astounding effect on your mindset. It is said that when these positive statements are used often and with intention the brain can be “rewired” or “trained” to think new and more positive thoughts.
Affirmations like “I am happy” or “I am loved” have the power to sink into your subconscious mind and become your new truth just by saying them out loud over and over. How magical is that?!
Choosing your affirmations
When choosing your positive affirmations, look for phrases that describe who you would like to be and how you would like to feel. This How To Love Yourself card deck can give you some great ideas to start with!
They are published by Hay House, Inc, a publishing company started by Louise Hay, who actually healed her cancer using positive affirmations!
My positive affirmations story
I can’t remember how I was guided to positive affirmations specifically but that’s how guidance sometimes happens. You’re guided to things you didn’t even know you needed.

Anywho, at that time, I was in a really bad space mentally and I was also very unhappy. I was driving 40 minutes every day to get to a job that I hated and I was absolutely at my breaking point. I knew something had to give and one day a positive affirmation video just showed up on my youtube feed. I figured it was worth a shot and gave it a listen on my way home.
It sounded so ridiculous and I did not want anyone to hear what I was listening too but I figured I’d just see if there was something to it. And much to my surprise there actually was! (If you’d rather write your affirmations this positive affirmations journal is AHMAZING for that)
Listening to these videos was actually having a positive effect on my day. I couldn’t believe it but it certainly was a step up from all the negative crap I was carrying around.
So I kept listening to the positive affirmations every day on my way to work. Slowly but surely those words started to become my new truth. It was even becoming very obvious to the people around me and the vibe of my whole workplace was changing. Positivity is contagious!

I am no longer at that job. I am now sitting in front of my favorite coffee shop with a delicious latte, writing this blog post, and fully living out my dream life! Positive affirmations were a key factor in making this happen! THEY ARE SO POWERFUL!
Final Thoughts On Positive Affirmations
Rewiring the brain is possible. I am a perfect example of that. Just as you can lose 50 pounds and gain a whole new body, you can lose years and years of negative weight in your mind and gain a whole new mindset.
Will it take work? Heck yes! Rome wasn’t built in a day, but the more you partake in positive thinking, the easier it will become. If you want to heal and change your life, start with the mess you have in your mind.
